#ARCAugust & #ReadThemAllThon Update, Reviews & What’s Next

This month I’ve joined in #ARCAugst and #ReadThemAllThon.

The sign ups are here and here respectively.

Time to check out my progress and see if I’m made any changes to my picks.

The Crepes of Wrath by Sarah Fox: Finished

I received this ARC in exchange for a review during a blog tour with Great Escapes Tours. However, since my review was less than 3 stars, I had to bow out. I published my review on GR quietly before the tour so as not to clash with the tour. It’s a cozy mystery without the fun, lackluster characters, so-so mystery, and a stupid-decision-making protagonist. I didn’t feel anything while reading and even now it’s just…eh.

Pgs. 240.           Recommendable? Not really.        Rating: 1.5 Stars

Bounty by Michael Byrnes: Finished

ARC Source: Goodreads
It’s a science fiction hacker thriller following a team of investigators trying to take down “eBay for assassins”. I ramble quite a bit about this system, which is more thought provoking and thorough than the tagline. My review is scheduled for the 22nd. Or take a peek on Goodreads.

Pgs. 416               Recommendable? Yes                   Rating: 4 Stars.
The Dollhouse by Fiona Davis: Finished

ARC Source: Meaghan Walsh Gerard’s ABEA giveaway.

My review is scheduled for the 17th. It’s a historical mystery wrapped up in a contemporary tale as the MC drowns in her own drama and tries to untangle a mysterious woman’s past. Read June by Miranda Beverly-Whittmore instead.

Pgs. 304           Recommendable? No.                       Rating: 1.5 Stars.

The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You by Lily Anderson: Finished

ARC Source: won from Lily Anderson (thanks!)

My review is scheduled for the 15th. It’s a contemporary romance drama with a bunch of high school nerds. Also, retelling of Much Ado About Nothing. This was a really fun, light, quick read.

Pgs. 352              Recommendable? Hell yes.                   Rating: 4 Stars

I’ve also read Rootless, Starters, Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies; Highly Illogical Behavior, and Absolute Brightness. These 6 count for #ReadThemAllThon, which means I’m only two books away from all the badges. 😀

I’m reading the second to last right now: The Gentleman by Forrest Leo. I started it yesterday on a work break. 10 pages in and the best part is the footnotes so we’ll see…

I’ll still have more ARCs to read, but if I overshoot it means I might be able to move books around for more points. 😈

I’m still working on the reviews for them though. I might do another round of half-pint reviews like the above at the end of the month to catch up.

I write really slowly and it’s just not flowing for me lately but I need those points!

Have you joined either one of these challenges? How are you doing? Do you participate in challenges?

Looks like your doing pretty good with your challenges! That is a bummer you didn't like Crepes of Wrath because I have that one to review. 🙁

"The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You" is a retelling of Much Ado About Nothing?? Ok, now I have to read it. I was ignoring it until now.
