We made it to Wednesday, ya’ll! I’m been so excited to gush about The Never Tilting World by Rin Chupeco it feels like I just finished it and today’s taken forever to get here! I absolutely adored Chupeco’s Bone Witch series with 5 stars all around so of course I had to pick her next book up. And one word y’all: autobuy.

You know the drill by now, get to it below ⬇

About the Never Tilting World:

Frozen meets Mad Max in this epic teen fantasy duology bursting with star-crossed romance, immortal heroines, and elemental magic, perfect for fans of Furyborn.

Generations of twin goddesses have long ruled Aeon. But seventeen years ago, one sister’s betrayal defied an ancient prophecy and split their world in two. The planet ceased to spin, and a Great Abyss now divides two realms: one cloaked in perpetual night, the other scorched by an unrelenting sun.

While one sister rules Aranth—a frozen city surrounded by a storm-wracked sea —her twin inhabits the sand-locked Golden City. Each goddess has raised a daughter, and each keeps her own secrets about her sister’s betrayal.

But when shadowy forces begin to call their daughters, Odessa and Haidee, back to the site of the Breaking, the two young goddesses —along with a powerful healer from Aranth, and a mouthy desert scavenger —set out on separate journeys across treacherous wastelands, desperate to heal their broken world. No matter the sacrifice it demands.

IMHO: the Never Tilting World

I was such a goner at the first sentence:

It was clearly his fault I’d punched him in the face.

The Never Tilting World is happier, more light & hopeful than The Bone Witch series but we still get a descent to darkness, people pushed to the limits, shifting alliances amid political upheaval and rebellion while teens fall in love and save the world.

No seriously, ya’ll! I don’t know how to write, like, a proper review here.

At no point was I bored or uninterested or felt like filler or any other plot or pacing nonsense. At various points along the way: I laughed, snorted, teared up, and shouted for joy. I didn’t want to stop reading and I didn’t want it to end.

There’s a w/w and a m/w romance including: Clueless mechanical genius with a heart of gold. One handed gruff snarky crack shot. Sick sheltered goddess trying to break out of her tower & shell. Ranger badass with PTSD in love with the body she’s suddenly guarding.

One romance starts with attempted murdering and saving each other, while the other starts with a fake name and a stood up date. Come. On.

They ‘gate’ elements like Fullmetal Alchemist meets Avatar the Last Airbender with the added complication of extreme climates, sci-fi like monsters, and shadow demons demanding sacrifice.

Mistborn meets Three Dark Crowns; Must read for fantasy fans, fans of hopeful post-apocalyptic survival, and YA romance fans.

This feels and reads like Classic Chupeco. Love her so, so, so much. I’m desperately hoping she’ll come to Phoenix on a book tour Soon™

Did I mention how much I love these characters, and their romances? You’re about to really find out in my favorite quotes below. Cannot get enough of them. And they have fun little changing titles/descriptions for each character’s chapters.  JUST UGH I LOVES THEM. 💙💙💙💙💙

Favorite Quotes from the Never Tilting World:

All I had to go by were the raunchy covers of my romances, and it occurred to be now how extremely uncomfortable all those women had to be to pose for those paintings.

Didn’t matter. I’d left him eating sand, and he wasn’t worth another thought. Ass.

I didn’t hate Haidee exactly, but that didn’t stop me from wanting to throttle her for having no sense of self-preservation.

In the space of three hours she had converted the war rig into some kind of sand-submersible, and if she wanted to name me Betsy, I’d let her if it gave us a fighting chance of living through this.

“But as there’s talk, you’ll no doubt ensure they keep their mouths shut in favor of keeping their tongues.”

“That’s going to take more than two sentences, buddy.”

As far as pillows go, he wasn’t too bad.

She smiled at me, her stupid little face so wonderfully bright and lovely.

Arjun was rarely right, but he had a point.

Arjun was bothersome enough that he didn’t leave much room in my head for anyone else.

“We’ve been imposing on each other from the moment we met, so let’s not break the habit now. Hold out your arm.”

The look of pure horror on the Starmaker’s face, I thought, as I still fought the fading pangs of pleasure, was almost worth the discovery.

About Rin Chupeco

Rin Chupeco author pic

Despite an unsettling resemblance to Japanese revenants, Rin always maintains her sense of hummus. Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, she keeps four pets: a dog, two birds, and a husband. Dances like the neighbors are watching.

She is represented by Rebecca Podos of the Helen Rees Agency. She is also fond of speaking in the third person, and may as well finish this short bio in this manner. While she does not always get to check her Goodreads page, she does answer questions posed to her here as promptly as she is able to.
